Who are your clients?
Anyone who needs and appreciates stationery! Our brides and grooms value stationery as part of their wedding budget.
When and Why did you start your business?
My business started in 2001 as a freelance venture. In the years that followed, I worked on design and print projects for various kinds of clients. However, I always loved how, in particular, wedding stationery was not only a personal story that was unique to each client; It merged all of my favorite aspects of being a graphic designer: coming up with unique design concepts, working with fonts and artwork on an intimate space of paper, and the tactile experience of paper. In 2007, I rolled out with my first stationery line and the rest is history!
What or Who inspires you?
Art is all around us, you just have to give yourself the space to find it, even in the most unlikeliest of places. I love the intellectual concepts behind art and how it drives it audience to react a particular way just by the way it is formatted and presented. Bringing that world to stationery, the right font and paper can truly capture the mood of the event without having to say anything at all.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?
Lots! That’s what I am here for, to help out with all stationery woes and concerns and quests. But more importantly, big picture: remember why you are getting married and use that as the sole drive through wedding planning. All too often, we get caught up in the minutia, and forget the importance of this process and what your wedding day means. To help with that, give yourself time to plan your wedding, a year if you can help it.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
In the business sense? Fonts and paper. I am such a nerd for both! I cannot get enough fonts and buy too many! And paper, oh man. Stop me. I love how papers interact with the designs and the printing processes. The tactile experience of feeling cotton paper on your hands and the deep impressions of letterpress; the smooth finish paper that adds to the marble invitation look; or the subtle shimmer of paper that creates just the right touch of elegance for your invitation. Yeah. All of that pushes my imaginary glasses up my nose.
In the personal sense? Chocolate. Not your sugary candy, or gum or caramel, etc. It has to be chocolate. And simple. Nothing over the top, with creams or fruits or fillings. Just good ol’ fashion chocolate.
What is one thing newly engaged couples should know about your service?
We are a high quality stationery company, offering custom invitations and personalized stationery. We cater to your needs and are your advocates for accomplishing your look and feel. Your invitations should be of your comfort and your personality, as it sets the tone for your wedding guests.
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
Well, I am biased. But the stationery of course. I love how it sets the tone for the wedding. It is the first thing that your guests see and it is one of the last things your guests see as well. It helps unify the theme and makes for a pleasant experience for you and your guests.
