Who are you? What is your specialty?
I am Madhoo Seth, Executive Chef and Owner at The Gourmet Kitchen Catering. We are a full-service catering company specializing in gourmet ethnic cuisine of all types. Our tagline is “We Cook in Your Language,” so we can truly do it all! I love creating healthy, out-of-the-box menus that make couples and wedding guests say, “Wow!”
What are you passionate about? What do you stand for?
I am passionate about food, plain and simple. My favorite part about cooking is designing unique fusion menus using the freshest ingredients. I love to play with colors, ingredients, and flavors in my food to create memorable dishes that taste as beautiful as they look!
Who are your clients?
My ideal client is a couple who is just as passionate about food as I am. Whether their individual style is elegant, casual, rustic, or modern doesn’t matter as much as their willingness to expand their palate and collaborate on a menu that reflects their individual tastes, personality, and unique love story.
When and Why did you start your business?
I’ve been experimenting with food as an art form at the age of 12. In New Delhi, India, I gathered knowledge in backgrounds of fashion, literature, and education. When I moved to the United States in the year 2000, I knew that I had to turn my passion for food and working with people into my career. In 2002, I began The Gourmet Kitchen Catering and in the last 15 years, we have grown more than I could have imagined! I love getting up every day and living my dream.
What or Who inspires you?
I’ve always drawn inspiration from self-made people. Being a female business owner, it’s important to have a good support system around you. I’m also very community-driven. Anyone who has made a difference in the community is a huge inspiration to me.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?
My biggest piece of advice is to hire a wedding planner! Even if you think you can do it all, come wedding morning, your mind will be elsewhere and you’ll wish you had a personal assistant to take care of last minute details. My second piece of advice is to take time in designing and planning your wedding catering. Catering is often the biggest decision to make during wedding planning, so you don’t want to rush it. You should feel comfortable with the caterer you’ve chosen, because they will likely be a very big part of your wedding day.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
I don’t have any guilty pleasures, really! Almost three years ago I made a change for my health and gave up sweets, dairy, and most meat.
What is one thing newly engaged couples should know about your service?
When we say full-service, we mean it! We always include matching buffet decor and a catering coordinator in our quote for no extra cost. These little details help to create a memory that you will cherish for a lifetime!
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
My favorite part about a wedding is a happy bride or groom. When a client says, “this was exactly like our tasting,” or “you made my wedding day special!”
A beautiful note from one of our brides
“We were married in February 2017 and chose to use The Gourmet Kitchen as the caterer for our wedding in Estes Park. We are located in Illinois, so we were planning this as a destination event and had limited opportunities to travel to Colorado prior to the event. We reviewed the four caterers that the venue allowed and had tastings at each. The Gourmet Kitchen had by far the best food we tasted. That being said, it was their flexibility that ultimately led us to choose them. Madhoo (Chef and Owner) met with us at our tasting, understood what we were looking for, and ended up creating a unique custom menu for us. She accommodated Gluten Free, Vegan, and Dairy Free requirements, while still making exceptional food for the majority of the guests without limitations. If you are looking for unique excellent food, then I cannot more strongly recommend The Gourmet Kitchen Catering. Another example of their flexibility is that they allowed us to fly in our favorite ice cream from Illinois, and set up an amazing ice cream bar as part of the event.
The day of the event, Madhoo attended and was extremely attentive. They brought a plate of each of the appetizers and set it at the head table so my wife and I were able to try everything. They also made up several plates of food for us to take back to our room to eat following the event. Madhoo attended to us and the guests without being invasive and genuinely seemed to care about making our day amazing.
I would choose The Gourmet Kitchen again in a heartbeat.”
