Hello! My name is Rachel and I am an engagement and wedding photographer. I live in small town Evergreen, Colo., with my husband of four and a half years, we have been together for 11 years now! I married a cowboy, one that wears cowboy hats and boots and sweeps me off my feet. We have two Aussie-Heeler puppies, brothers, Blu and River, from the same litter, and one fierce black cat named, Bagheera. We love the small town life and believe that love grows best in little houses, with fewer walls to separate. Where you eat and sleep so close together, you can’t help but communicate. If we had more rooms between us, think of all we’d miss.
I am a sentimental wedding photographer for independent and sophisticated couples.
What are you beliefs?
I believe in sending unexpected, hand-written notes in the mail to the people I love.
I believe in taking advice from my cat. Bask in the sun. Climb to the top. Pounce on possibilities.
I believe in overdressing in elegance from an earlier time. Pearls and lace are the perfect complement.
I believe the hardest thing in life is letting go. Hot yoga is my zen.
I prefer salty foods over sweets. Anything pickle flavored.
The serenity and charm of a small town makes me feel at home. Ma and pa shops are the hidden treasures.
I believe getting dirty is a sign of living life. Even in the nicest of clothes.
I believe Fear Factor should be your everyday life. Jump and eat guts.
I found my Grandfather’s old pun book and it is among one of my most prized possessions. One in a melon.
I believe holding hands never grows old and the heart has no wrinkles.
Who are your clients?
My clients are couples who believe that being together is better. My couples believe in marriage and that marriage is worth fighting for. My couples choose encouragement over criticism, grace over judgment and faith over fear. Their love says they will be there no matter what. My couples have no backup plans, no escape clauses and zero regrets. My couples believe that holding hands never grows old and the heart has no wrinkles.
When and why did you start your business?
I started my wedding photography business in college around 2010. I believe I was always called to be a wedding photographer in this thing called life. Reliving memories has always made me so happy and what makes me even happier is gifting someone a memory they will always cherish and keep close to their heart. Having tangible memories on the walls or in our hands is why I do what I do.
I am a product of my parent’s divorce. Love was war. They fought more against than for. Hard times were hung on the wall. I avoided conflict by isolating and disconnecting, ultimately starting a war with myself. I gave love a second chance and fell true to the idea that people are better together. I stand for love and respect in every marriage and that two independent people love each other better when together. I believe in marriages that cultivate meaningful romantic traditions. I believe in growing old, yet growing up together is the real adventure.
Love stories inspire me. Your love story inspires me.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?
Yes!! Spend time together. Speak highly of each other. Forgive quickly. Cultivate a friendship. Use the word “we” more than “me.” Encourage each other. Kiss at least three times a day.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Pickles. Pickle flavored anything. Yes, I drink pickle juice right out of the jar. I’m on the hunt for pickle flavored ice cream!
What is one thing newly engaged couples should know about your service?
I want you to know, that like you, I am awfully sentimental. If couples, destinations and belongings touched me in a meaningful way, I have a hard time letting go. Embrace the journey.
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
I have a lot of favorite parts during wedding days! But my most treasured are…
The relationship between the bride and her father as well as the little moments the bride and groom exchange throughout the wedding day.
I love the moment when the father walks his little girl down the aisle and hugs and kisses her as her new husband grabs her hand with a huge smile on his face like he is the luckiest guy in the world. Then, another favorite is when the bride and groom are now husband and wife and they walk back down the aisle in complete joy that two have now become one. Also, when the father has one last dance with his little girl, a grown woman who is now a wife.
