Who are you? What is your speciality?
I am a passionate creative who loves dramatic imagery. I find inspiration in fashion photography and movies. I love weddings as it allows me to spend my time with couples in love, on the happiest day of their lives. When they truly put their trust in me, it makes it feel like we’re old friends and we have a blast!
What are you passionate about? What do you stand for?
I am passionate about my two kids – Johnny and Presley. I am passionate about riding my motorcycle every chance I get. I love spending time with my best friend and boyfriend, Keith… What do I stand for? Mostly FREEDOM and compassion.
When and Why did your business start?
I started my biz back in 2006 with my ex-husband. We did not have a great experience with our photographer, and we knew we could do better. He was the photographer and I did everything else (and I do mean every. thing.). I got bored at weddings during the reception after I was done coordinating the formal photos, working with vendors, etc., so I started shooting details and candids. Then I started doing styled shoots so I could practice and get better, learn the camera and work on posing and lighting. I’ve now been under my own brand and on my own since the Fall 2014!
Who are your clients?
My clients are down-to-earth, fun-loving, and genuine people. They consider photography one of the most important parts of their day. It’s hard to pin-point them into one group since they’re all so different!
What or Who inspires you?
Ilove the drama of fashion photography, the cinematography in movies, and nature. Those that inspire me are those that are not afraid to tell it like it is, even if it’s an unpopular or un-PC opinion. I would rather someone tell me something strait up, even if it stings a little, then lie to my face in an eloquent way.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Stupid delicious donuts
What is one thing newly engaged couples should know about your service?
That I am a boutique style studio – quality over quantity. I want to work with couples who consider their photography as an important experience, not just because it’s “required”.
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
I’ve mentioned above that I love the dramatic imagery and fashion, but I also love the emotion. Seeing Mom & Dad’s faces when they see their kids walk down the aisle, and I always –always– cry at the mother/son dance (sorry Johnny – I’m going to be an ugly crier on your wedding day). It’s the little in-between moments – a simple little glance or touch – the way they look at each other when no one else is watching – those are what I like to catch (I call it “hunting”).
Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?
3 things – 1. Get the best photographer you can, even if it means cutting down in other areas – ask your married friends about wedding photography and 9 times out of 10, they will advise you to “spend the money” 2. Hire a wedding planner, even if it’s just for the month-of/day-of., and 3. Don’t sweat the small stuff – enjoy your day – you’re there to marry the love of your life, not worry about how a table is set up.
